About Dan

Dan is the father of four sons, one of whom happens to have disabilities from birth. He has been married to his wife, Fina (short for Josefina) since 1973. Dan has a Bachelor of Science degree in electronics, and a graduate degree in international management. Once retirement was in sight, Dan decided to write humorous stories about raising their “special” child. The result is his first book, “Disabled Fables". Dan Montville

During the writing of his book, Dan managed to collect a few notable writing achievements. In 2005, Dan received Honorable Mention from Writer’s Digest Magazine for his entry in the publication’s monthly “Your Assignment” writing contest. The following year, Dan submitted his writing to the Illinois Arts Council and won a grant to attend the Erma Bombeck Humor Writers’ Workshop in Dayton, Ohio. In 2007, Dan was the first non-professional humorist to win the prestigious Robert Benchley Society Award for Humor. The finalist judge for the competition was Pulitzer Prize winning humorist, Dave Barry.
